Diana Verde Nieto was once introduced to a tale about a stunning butterfly that fell to extinction, but that had then been brought back to life thanks to the collaborative efforts of many people. This was about the Large British Blue Butterfly, and was told to her by none other than the great environmental enthusiast himself, Sir David Attenborough. Inspired by this story, she began to look for ways to translate this success elsewhere, namely, to the field of fashion.
The Trust Mark
Along with co-founder Karen Hanton MBE, Diana founded Positive Luxury in 2011. With a focus on redefining ‘modern luxury’ to better suit the world we live in today, the company seeks to create a better perspective of sustainability both within the industry and consumers alike. Through earning the Butterfly Mark (a trust mark awarded to brands who adhere to strict ethical guidelines), brands gain consumer trust, inciting a positive feedback loop between themselves and customers.
Positive Week 2018
Earlier this month, the company held it’s annual Positive Week, celebrating progress in the fashion industry. Speakers included the likes of Ms. Nieto herself, luxury jewellery designer, Stephen Webster, and many more industry leaders. Check out the Positive Luxury site for more information on your favourite brands, and the latest innovations in sustainability!
